About the Show
Adapted by Lara Foot from J.M. Coetzee's Nobel Prize-winning novel, in collaboration with Handspring Puppet Company, Life & Times of Michael K follows a gentle, cleft-lipped gardener who sets out on foot through a South Africa ravaged by civil war, pushing his dying mother in a makeshift cart to fulfil her wish to return to the farm where she was born. Combining live performance, puppetry and film, the production had its world premiere at the Baxter Theatre before touring internationally, with The New York Times calling its Edinburgh Fringe run 'the standout Fringe show.'
