Tshepang

Inspired by the horrifying rape of a nine-month-old baby girl in a small South African town in 2001, Tshepang follows Simon, who has loved the silent, ritual-bound Ruth since childhood, as he tells her story. Blending striking visual imagery with a South African tradition of storytelling and magic realism, it is ultimately a haunting and uplifting drama of redemption. It premiered in Amsterdam in 2003 before opening at the Gate Theatre, London, in 2004.
